The Yellow Bench

The first few years my husband and I were married, my mother-in-law would get all the girls together and we would craft. Usually with wood of some sort. One year we made benches. Mine has been on my porch and other various places. A few years ago I decided to lighten things up and I painted my bench bright yellow and some second hand chairs blue, red and green. I was given a simple table and my daughter painted it red with a checkerboard on the top. When I started taking pictures of my dolls, I was told outside has the best lighting. I found the bench to be my favorite place to take pictures!

This year all my colorful porch decor had to be put away for our Christmas lights display, and I just got it out again today! My bench and chairs are falling apart a little, and I’ve been told it’s better to take pictures with a white background, but I love it so much that as often as I can, I’ll still be using the yellow bench as my background!

New Pattern! Rascal the Raccoon

Winter has been long and cold this year! We have had so much snow and I have loved every minute of it! Springtime is rolling around now and so are those lovely spring showers! Rascal the Raccoon is totally ready for spring and those rain showers with his trusty umbrella and fun rain jacket! His rain jacket is removable so he can catch some rays if the sun comes out! Now through March 17, Rascal is on sale in my Ravelry shop 30% off making the pattern $3.50! No coupon code is required, just add him to your cart!

March Crochet-a-Long

What is a Crochet-a-long? It is a super fun way to make a crochet project with a group of people all doing the same thing at the same time! There are deadlines so if you have a hard time finishing a project, the deadlines help you stay on track and actually finish! Also if you have questions, there are plenty of people to ask and receive help from! I have a great CAL group on Facebook Made by Mary CAL. Each month we have a new project. So far we have done several fun crochet projects. For the month of March there are 2 options: Buster the Bunny and Seymore the Skunk. Use coupon code: MARCHCAL to get 30% off either or both of these patterns through March 15.

Here is the schedule:
March 1-7: Hands, Arms, Feet, Legs
March 8-14: Body
March 15-21: Skunk: Muzzle, Tail and Back Stripe, Bunny: Muzzle, Nose, Ears, Belly
March 22-29: Everything else!

In the facebook group there is a photo album for each one. Here are the links to the albums: Skunk and Bunny. Each week complete the requirements and put your pictures in the respective album. Random winners are chosen to receive free patterns. At the end, if you have completed your design on time and have your photo in the correct album, you will get a free pattern from my Ravelry shop! Come join the fun and CAL with us!

Made by Mary Website!

I am excited to announce I am creating a website! All my patterns will still be on Ravelry, and the new freebies will be linked to here! I will have fun tutorials, announcements, giveaways and more on my website!

I thought I would start out by telling you a little bit about how Made by Mary started. I love crafting. All kinds of crafting! I started Made by Mary initially to pay for my crafts. At first I was selling finished items. Hats and baby photo props were the beginning. Then I realized I didn’t really enjoy making hats, dolls were my favorite! So I started making dolls. I made and sold hundreds of dolls from my Etsy shop. Then one day someone asked for a doll that I couldn’t find a pattern for. At that point I decided to try my hand at designing and I was hooked!

I have a husband and 3 kids who are super supportive of me and my crazy hobbies! We love to dress up at Halloween and I go fun crazy all summer making the costumes!
